afflictions

like an old addiction
i’ll shred myself
to bits
break my head
to pieces
and exhale
i need something new
to dissolve my rage
to melt my pain
so i can go on pretending i’m enough
i’ll reach for the needle
slip it under my skin
then raise my arm and let it rip
all the way down
so i can unravel
and i’ll fall apart

and I fall apart
